Sevee & Maher Engineers Inc. has promoted an internationally recognized senior chemist who has worked for large multinational corporations to a new principal position at the Cumberland-based consulting firm.
Huqiu Zhang brings over 25 years of experience in regulatory compliance for consumer product chemical safety, food contact and food packaging. She joined the firm in 2020.
“Huqiu’s extensive technical knowledge and industry insight make her a tremendous asset in supporting our clients in navigating complex and stringent safety regulations and making sustainable products,” said President Erik Clapp. “We’re fortunate to have her world-class qualifications in this strategic growth area.”
Zhang leads the firm’s Product Stewardship group, helping clients with regulatory compliance and sustainability that are related to food packaging and other products that come in contact with food.
According to a prepared news release, she is based in the firm's Park Ridge, Ill., office in the greater Chicago area and was fundamental in establishing the firm's regional presence in the Midwest.
Zhang gained international recognition for her advanced expertise in regulations and approvals, process improvement and scientific and regulatory affairs, including sustainability and producer responsibility.
She is an experienced consultant in chemical safety and regulatory compliance for manufacturers, processors and packagers. She has worked with large corporations operating worldwide, including Intertek, Coca-Cola, BASF, Ciba Specialty Chemicals and GE Plastics.
She holds a doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Tennessee.
