Shawnee Peak charges into ski season with renovations, snowmaking tech
Shawnee Peak’s ski season is kicking off with a number of capital improvements coming to the Bridgton ski area, including extensive facility renovations and the purchase of the latest snowmaking tech to insure visitors can hit the trails as soon as possible.
The ski area’s rental shop was on the receiving end of a complete renovation and expansion with a new layout and a modern storage racking system. Shawnee’s repair shop has also seen a bit of a facelift with new state-of-the-art tuning machines.
A new e-commerce platform will also be rolled out soon, which the ski area says will provide a more streamlined experience for guests and enable skiers to save money on lift tickets by purchasing tickets and products in advance, according to a news release.
Because it’s a ski area, Shawnee’s snowmaking abilities also received a significant boost with the installation of HKD Klik hydrants on the Pine Slope, which will help open and shut the trail faster, allowing the snowmaking team to open trails quicker.
At mid-station, a generator and fan gun have been placed, with the intent of opening top-to-bottom terrain much sooner. This year’s investment also includes additions to the fan gun fleet, more HKD SV-10 tower guns and an overhaul of the snowmaking pumps on the lake.
“Once again, it has been a busier than expected off-season but I believe all of our improvements allow us to continue to offer a high-quality product for our guests,” Shawnee Peak owner Chet Homer said in a news release.
