More than 200 representatives of small businesses and government agencies will gather in South Portland this week for a two-day matchmaking session that will culminate in a "speed-dating" session that matches businesses with contracts.
The New England Regional Matchmaker is hosted by Maine Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Eastern Maine Development Corp. and New Hampshire PTAC, and will help match businesses with government agencies, contractors and other buyers Thursday and Friday at the DoubleTree by Hilton in South Portland.
The Thursday session is a workshop day and the matchmaking sessions are Friday, after an hour-long welcome that will include videos from Maine's congressional delegation. Also speaking Friday morning will be Christopher Averill, regional administrator of the General Services Administration and Wendell Davis, regional administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
More than 200 individuals attend the two-day event, according to organizers.
Agencies and contractors attending include: AECOM, Ganneston Construction Corp., Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, BAE Systems, GEI Consultants, Sikorsky, BIW, General Dynamic Electric Boat, Triumph Engine Control Systems, Burns & McDonnell, GKN Aerospace Engine Systems, U.S. Coast Guard Civil Engineering Unit Providence, Cianbro Corp., Industrial Economics Inc., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District; Cobham; KMK Construction Inc.; U.S. General Services Administration; Colt's Manufacturing Co.; Kollsman Inc.; Elbit Systems of America; Ultra Electronics Ocean Systems Inc.; U.S. Dept of Veterans Affairs; MIT Lincoln Laboratory; U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; Education Development Center Inc.; Moog Inc.; Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions Inc.; Ensign Bickford Aerospace & Defense; Pelican Products/Hardigg Industries.
During the matchmaking sessions, buyers will be seated at tables and representatives of small businesses will meet with them one-on-one for 10-minute increments.
When time is up, the small business representatives must conclude and allow for the next small business to take its place. Businesses may select eight unique meeting requests.
