South Portland-based engineering firm Sebago Technics has acquired Corner Post Land Surveying in a deal that will add seven employees in York County.

Terms of the transaction, announced Wednesday, were not disclosed.

The acquisition is the first for the Sebago Technics since April 2021, when it acquired Falmouth-based Titcomb Associates. Previous acquisitions include Bridgton-based Sawyer Engineering & Surveying, announced in early 2021, and Sweet Associates, of Falmouth, in 2017.

Corner Post Surveying, based in Springvale, a village in the city of Sanford, was established in 1990 by Dana A. Libby as a land surveying firm. Over the last three decades, the firm has grown into one of southern Maine's most active land surveying and consulting firms, with a focus on boundary and topographic services.

All seven employees of Corner Post have joined Sebago Technics as employee-owners via the acquisition, bringing Sebago Technic's total to 110 employees in four offices.

Mark Adams, president and CEO of Sebago Technics, said the acquisition gives his company an opportunity for expansion in a fast-growing region.

"Sebago's collective of land development professionals looks forward to providing our multi-discipline services to property owners, businesses, developers, organizations and local governments," he said in a news release.  "Building on the excellent work and reputation of Corner Post, its founder Dana Libby and its employees, the combined entities are excited to support local growth and development with local, experienced professionals."

Adams also shared a positive 2023 business outlook with Mainebiz.

"The robustness we have seen in some sectors (residential, for example) may tail off, but we are expecting continued strong activity in health care, education and commercial sectors," he said. "In addition, the influx of federal dollars for infrastructure projects has already started to yield projects with much more expected over the next few years. Finally, for us, our strategic move into the lakes region/western Maine and York County/southern New Hampshire is hoped to bring additional new opportunities and growth."

Sebago Technics offers business, developers, landowners and public agencies services in engineering, surveying-geomatics, land planning, permitting, development and construction of projects throughout Maine and northern New England.

The company ranks No. 11 among Maine's largest engineering firms in the 2022 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on the number of Maine licensed engineers. The 2023 edition is set to be published Dec. 26.
