Revenue from the state’s two casinos has risen for the first half of the fiscal year and the first month-to-month comparisons of revenue at Oxford Casino show strong increases there.
The Sun Journal reported the state has taken in $35.4 million in revenue from slot machines and table games at Oxford and Hollywood casinos, just over $10 million more over the same time last year.
That growth in the first half of the year is largely due to the addition of Oxford Casino, which did not open until June 2012. While the latest numbers do not provide an apples-to-apples comparison of a full year of revenue from both casinos, they do give a first look at year-over-year revenues for July and August at Oxford Casino. For the new casino, the state’s July revenues rose 35% over July 2012.
Of the total for the first half of the year, slot machines at Oxford Casino contributed $18.6 million and table games there contributed about $1.4 million. During the same time, Hollywood Casino slots generated around $14.6 million from its slot machines and $807,394 from its table games.
