State sues Richardson Hollow

The Maine Department of Labor is suing a defunct Lewiston mental health agency and its owner to recoup more than $177,000 in back pay for 133 former employees, the Sun Journal reported.

The department's lawsuit claims Richardson Hollow Mental Health Services and owner Linda Hertell failed to pay workers for the final week the agency was open in mid-September. It also asks that Richardson Hollow pay employees twice the amount owed because of losses suffered when the agency breached its employee contracts.

Hertell's business consultant, John Turner, told the paper that the state Department of Health and Human Services cut funding to Richardson Hollow and still owes the company money. DHHS says it has already paid what it owes, and has requested an audit of the agency's books.
