Sting booked for Bangor concert series
Sting will bring his five-piece band to the Bangor waterfront this summer, the first act signed this year for the concert series that a UMaine study says has brought just over $30 million to the region over three years.
The Bangor Daily News reported that the bassist and lead vocalist for the disbanded group The Police will extend his 2011-12 world tour with a stop in Bangor on June 20.
The paper reports tickets are priced between $60 and $100. In the concert series' previous three years, UMaine economist Todd Gabe estimated that direct concert-related spending totaled around $18.6 million. Another $11.8 million was estimated as indirect spending as a result of the concert series.
