Southworth International Group Inc., the parent company of several manufacturers of ergonomic vertical positioning equipment, recently named a global supply-chain expert to its board of directors.
Karen Coombs brings over 20 years of experience in leadership and strategic planning for global supply chains, manufacturing and distribution companies, including Freight Farms, Amazon Robotics, New Balance and Defense Contract Management Agency.
“I have been so impressed with the people and culture at SIGI,” said Coombs. “It is an honor to join the board, and I look forward to collaborating with leaders across the organization.”
Early on in her career, Coombs served as an officer in the U.S. Army. She deployed on three tours in Kuwait and Iraq and earned a Bronze Star for her service.
She received her bachelor’s in environmental sciences from Providence College and her master’s in business administration from Post University.
“We welcome Karen’s unique perspective and hands-on knowledge developed over the course of a highly successful career,” said James Cabot, CEO of SIGI.
SIGI was founded 125 years ago as small printing company called Southworth Press in Portland. The company now owns and operates several companies in the United States, Mexico, Sweden, England, France, Germany and China.
