The County Federal Credit Union has hired Tony Lahey as its next chief financial officer.
Lahey succeeds Brad Wolverton, who started in the role last November. A spokesperson with the credit union told Mainebiz that Wolverton left the position in May.
Lahey began his career as an accounts payable clerk at Cary Medical Center and became a business office manager at Aroostook Home Health Services for five years.
In 2008, he became the director of finance for Pines Health Services until 2018. He then joined MMG Insurance Co. as an accountant and was promoted to senior accountant in 2020.
“His extensive finance and accounting experience in the healthcare and insurance industries will bring invaluable insights to our team," said Ryan Ellsworth, president and CEO of the County FCU.
"His expertise is expected to notably enhance our accounting department’s procedures and overall performance, driving us toward greater efficiency and financial success.”
Lahey has volunteered on various committees and councils throughout his career.
He sits on the Northern Maine Community College Business & Accounting Department Advisory Board and the Northern Maine Community College Foundation Board. He has previously served as treasurer, vice chair and chair of the United Way of Aroostook Board. In 2016, he completed the Leadership Maine Program, which focused on leadership strengths and Maine’s economy.
The Caribou native attended the University of Maine at Presque Isle, where he earned a degree in accounting and business administration.
“Having a culture of ‘people helping people’ that extends from the employees all the way through to our members has always made the County Federal Credit Union a highly respected financial institution and one that people know they can go to for a friendly face and an amazing experience for whatever financial needs they have,” said Lahey.
“The staff at the County Federal Credit Union treat everyone who walks through their doors as family, and that is a big reason why it was such an easy decision to join this wonderful group of people whose collective mission is always to do the right thing for everyone we serve.”
The County FCU serves Aroostook, Penobscot and Piscataquis counties with branches in Caribou, Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield, Mars Hill, Houlton, Howland, Old Town and Bangor.
The County FCU has $459.3 million in total deposits and ranks No. 7 among the largest Maine-based credit unions, based on deposits as of Sept. 30, 2023, according to the 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists.
Congratulations Tony. Wishing you the very best.
