Thomas College acquires naming rights for Ice Vault arena in Hallowell

Photo / Jim Neuger The Maine Ice Vault, in Hallowell, has been renamed the Thomas College Ice Vault.

The Maine Ice Vault, an indoor ice arena in Hallowell, has been renamed the Thomas College Ice Vault, under a new 10-year sponsorship that includes adding the Waterville school's branding throughout the arena.

The 500-seat venue has been home ice for Thomas College's men's hockey team since 2016 and will support a women's hockey team starting in the fall of 2025.

A spokesperson for the college would not disclose how much it paid for the arena's naming rights.

"We're excited for this amazing partnership and grateful for this central Maine community," said Chris Parsons, Thomas College vice president of athletics. "I'm so proud to be a part of a college that is expanding programs and spaces and providing more experiences for our students. We are so grateful to the Prescott family for their ongoing commitment to Thomas College, our students and our athletes."

The Maine Ice Vault has previously been known as the Camden National Bank Ice Vault and the Bank of Maine Ice Vault.

Thomas College and the Ice Vault will host a celebration of the new name on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 3:30 p.m. The event will feature a tour of the newly branded arena, a ceremony and free activities such as open skating.

Thomas College is a career-focused private college founded in 1864. It offers programs in the arts and sciences, business and education.

Among the largest colleges and universities in Maine, Thomas was ranked No. 17 in the 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on a full-time undergraduate enrollment of 688 in fall 2023.
