The board of directors at Greater Portland Health announced today that Ann Tucker is the nonprofit’s new CEO.
Tucker, Greater Portland Health’s chief financial officer since 2012, had been serving as interim CEO. She has more than 20 years of diverse leadership experience in drug retail, insurance and transit, with more than 13 years in the health care industry.
“The board is delighted that Ann Tucker will continue to lead Greater Portland Health,” Victoria Foley, president of Greater Portland Health’s board, said in a news release. “She has been a capable, collaborative leader for the organization during the search process and we look forward to working with her to further the mission of high quality patient-centered care in our community.”
Greater Portland Health is a nonprofit health center providing comprehensive primary health care for all ages — including integrated behavioral health, chronic and infectious disease management, substance use treatment and dental care — to over 10,800 patients at nine locations in the greater Portland community. Its mission is to provide high quality patient-centered health care that is accessible, affordable and culturally sensitive. The health center accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and provides a sliding fee scale for patients that don’t have access to healthcare insurance.
In December, U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, I-Maine, announced that the health center would receive $727,846 in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through two grants:
During the board’s rigorous national search, with Tucker serving as both interim CEO and CFO, Greater Portland Health experienced tremendous growth in programs, staff and patients, according to the news release.
“I am so fortunate to be chosen as the new CEO of Greater Portland Health,” Tucker said. “We have an amazing team of medical providers, social workers, dentists, dental hygienists, leaders, and clinical and administrative support providing exceptional patient care. Under the direction of our patient majority board of directors, we have worked together to build a strong organizational foundation and I look forward to our continued growth and success.”
Tucker received her undergraduate degrees in communication and business administration at the University of Southern Maine and her graduate degree at Saint Michael’s College.
