Two Maine companies have been named to the U.S. Small Business Administration's SBA 100 list, which highlights companies that have received SBA aid and created at least 100 jobs.
Care & Comfort Inc., a home health care agency based in Waterville, and Bancroft Contracting Corp. of South Paris earned the SBA designation, according to press releases from SBA's Maine district office. In order to qualify for the list, companies must have received SBA support in the form of capital, contracting, counseling or investment before going on to create at least 100 jobs. Founded in 1991 with two employees, Care & Comfort now has 445 employees and received SBA's Maine Small Business of the Year award in 2006. Bancroft Contracting, founded in 1977 with 25 employees, now employs 175, and owner Mark Bancroft won the SBA's Maine Small Business Person of the Year in 2009.
