The University of Maine at Presque Isle is expanding its offerings to include a master’s degree in business for working professionals and meet Maine's workforce needs.

The college said in a prepared release that the new master’s program is designed to provide working professionals with a direct, affordable and online pathway to a postgraduate degree and subsequent career advancement.

The program includes 10 associated concentrations and is the newest addition to UMPI’s YourPace offerings. YourPace is an online competency-based education that allows students to progress through the program at their own pace while balancing their studies with work and family commitments.

“We have identified a growing need, both from adult learners and organizations seeking strong leaders, for business degrees that are high quality while prioritizing flexibility and affordability,” said Ray Rice, UMPI president. “

“With the success of our master of arts in organizational leadership degree, establishing our master of science in business degree was a natural next step in meeting workforce needs,” Rice continued. “These programs, along with the wide array of offerings within our YourPace modality, are allowing adults from Maine and throughout the world to complete their degrees quickly, so they can open doors to exciting new opportunities in their careers.”

The online program is scheduled to begin in September 2025 and program leaders will accept applications in July.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle is part of the University of Maine System. UMPI ranked No. 11 among Maine's largest colleges and universities in the 2025 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on full-time undergraduate enrollment of 1,403 in fall 2024.
