United Insurance, an independent Portland-based insurance agency, has hired Deborah Wentworth in the newly created role of chief operating officer.
Wentworth will be responsible for managing organizational operations and improving workflow for all 14 United Insurance offices, while also serving on the executive leadership team.
“As we seek to expand our footprint and pursue our vision to become the most trusted insurance agency in the Northeast, it became evident we needed to invest in a chief operating officer to help us grow and evolve while maintaining our service standards,” said Zack Frechette, president and CEO of United Insurance.
Throughout her 30-year career, Wentworth has held various roles includes ones at MEMIC Group and Hanover Insurance. Most recently, she managed agency business, personal lines and employee benefit service teams at Clark Insurance/MMA.
“I’ve always admired United Insurance’s perpetuation business model and respected the acquisitions and investments in talent the ownership team has made in recent years,” said Wentworth.
“It’s a growth-oriented company with deep roots here in Maine. I’m excited to help us achieve our aggressive goals while creating more opportunities and rewards for our hard-working team.”
Wentworth received a bachelor’s degree in business from Husson University and her MBA from the University of Phoenix.
She is active in the community, serving on the board of the Southern Maine Red Cross and as the state chair for Maine Million Women Mentors.
Headquartered in Portland, United Insurance consists of 175 professionals working in 14 locations throughout Maine and New Hampshire. The agency provides personal, business and employee benefits insurance solutions and risk management services to over 35,000 clients.
