A Virginia company has acquired the Augusta-based cyber investigation firm BitSec Global Forensics.
According to a company press release, BitSec will now operate as a division of the Vienna, Va.-based Network Designs Inc.
From Augusta, BitSec offered confidential information and security services to private and government clients.
As a result of the merger, the company reported, it will expand its services to include vulnerability, penetration and application testing alongside existing training, electronic discovery, computer forensics and data breach response services.
As part of the merger, NDi plans to build a new digital forensics lab in the Washington, D.C., metro area.
Prior to the merger, BitSec had been a partner with NDi to offer cyber security services and training to NDi clients.
Michael Webber, BitSec's founder and senior vice president, said in a press release that the merger will also help the Augusta operation expand in New England while developing the new D.C.-based digital forensics program.
