Vehicles seized at Ford dealership

The owner of an Ellsworth Ford dealership, who owes the car company $2.4 million, has had his dealership shut down.

Representatives from Ford Motor Credit Co. earlier this week removed vehicles from Dave Gould Ford after Maine's Bureau of Motor Vehicles suspended Gould's license to operate as a new car dealer in Maine, the Ellsworth American reported. Gould has been in financial difficulties since last September, when Ford Motor Credit Co. filed a civil lawsuit against Gould, alleging he defaulted on his wholesale agreement and owed the company $2.4 million. The car dealer also owes Maine Revenue Services more than $80,000 in back taxes, and failed to pay back $1.7 million in loans to Bangor Savings Bank, the paper reported.

Despite the vehicle seizure, Gould told the paper his dealership was still in business. A government spokesperson said the bureau likely would make a decision on reinstating Gould's license in a few days, according to the paper.
