Portland-based law firm Verrill Dana has launched a new program to help Maine businesses and organizations obtain federal stimulus funding.
The program, announced today, combines lawyers from the firm's commercial transactions, health care, environmental, real estate and labor litigation groups to help clients attract federal stimulus money for their projects, Mike Saxl, managing principal of Maine Street Solutions, Verrill Dana's government relation and public affairs arm, told Mainebiz this morning. The group will coordinate work between its Portland, Augusta, Boston, Hartford and Washington, D.C., offices to help clients navigate the permitting and regulatory processes so their project proposals are finalized in 180 days, the deadline for consideration, Saxl said. "This is the largest opportunity in the history of the United States, and it's critical those dollars go to local businesses," he said.
Verrill Dana has already had "a number of existing and new clients," including one municipality Saxl did not name, express interest in getting funding.
Can we spend this money fast enough??
Let's all take a breath!
