The Vermont-based PC Construction has been awarded a $14 million contract for work at the University of Maine in Orono, according to a press release issued this morning.
The work will include code upgrades and floor surface replacements at the school's Memorial Gym and Field House as part of a renovation project on those buildings that is expected to begin in the spring of 2013.
The renovation will be the first work done on the two buildings since they were built over 80 years ago, according to the release.
In May 2011, the shoe company New Balance donated a record-setting $5 million gift to the renovation fund in exchange for 20-year naming rights. The field house will be renamed the "New Balance Field House" and the fitness center the "New Balance Student Recreation and Fitness Center."
The employee-owned PC Construction is based in South Burlington, Vt., with around 800 employee-owners and regional offices in Portland and Garner, N.C.
