Portland technology firm Tilson Technology Management has signed a $2 million contract with AT&T to broaden the telecommunications company's 4G high-speed network.
The contract covers work in New England and New York and will take place over the next two years, Tilson CEO Josh Broder told Mainebiz.
The contract continues Tilson's growth and expands its footprint in the Northeast. Broder said revenues have been up more than 300% between 2009 and 2011. Tilson has a division that specializes in telecommunications work, such as evaluating transmission and distribution operations and upgrading service for wireless carriers from 3G to 4G.
Broder said the company in early August laid off about seven full-time employees from its 60-person staff as it completed work on the state's Three Ring Binder project.
That project brought high-speed Internet service to some of Maine's most rural and underserved areas.
