Weekend storm leaves nearly 5,500 without power

Early Monday, around 5,500 Maine homes and businesses were without electricity. The Associated Press reported most of the outages were caused by the weekend’s snowfall but around 1,000 were left over from an ice storm more than a week ago.

The Associated Press reported that Central Maine Power Co. reported around 3,900 outages Monday morning, with around 2,100 being in Lincoln County. Hancock County was hardest hit in Bangor Hydro Electric’s coverage area. In total, the Bangor utility reported 1,600 customers without power early Monday.
