Chadwick-BaRoss Inc., a Westbrook-based construction equipment dealer, has acquired a Connecticut equipment business, now the Maine company’s eighth location.
In a news release, Chadwick-BaRoss did not provide terms of the deal, but said it closed Tuesday. The company is retaining all 12 employees of Kaz Equipment, in South Windsor, Conn.
Chadwick-BaRoss, founded 90 years ago, also operates branches in Bangor; Caribou; Chelmsford, Mass.; Concord, N.H.; Oxford, Conn.; and West Warwick, R.I. The company has over 100 employees, and sells a variety of construction vehicles and machinery, including excavators, compactors, pavers and skid steers, as well as forestry equipment.
Kaz Equipment was founded in 2006 by Joseph Kazimir, and is the authorized dealer of Takeuchi, Ventrac, and Avant equipment in the Hartford, Conn. area.
With customers across New England, Chadwick-BaRoss views its new Hartford presence as a key part of the company’s growth plans.
"This acquisition is important for us," said President Jim Maxwell. "CBR is a growing brand in our business, and the addition of a site in a major metropolitan area like Hartford fits with that growth strategy.
“We're very much looking forward to building on Kaz's great relationships in the region, and continuing to expand and represent the CBR brand throughout New England."
In 2016, Chadwick-BaRoss was purchased by a Toronto-based private investment company, ISH Capital Inc., for $12.4 million. The previous owner was another Canadian company, Strongco Corp. (TSX: SQP).
