Pretty pitiful that Gov Mills thinks she needs to buy votes, and is doing it in this fashion. With the cost of living up about $5,000 or more for a family, this is insulting.

It would be better for the economy if the windfall were to be used for meaningful tax reform, but apparently sending out these rebates is viewed as good politics.

What a pathetic example of governing. This won't help the average Maine family as most are barely making ends meet! The current cost of basic essentials is awful.. food, gasoline, heat, utilities... most folks are barely getting by and that's horrible! And $850 is just plain insulting to the rest who are paying a huge amount of State taxes every year. Trying to buy votes rarely works... there are many other options to spend this fake budget surplus on
