3 Standard Electric stores to shut doors

Wesco International, a worldwide electrical parts wholesaler, will close three of its five Standard Electric stores in Maine by the end of the month, citing a slowdown in the residential real estate market for the closures.

The Bangor Daily News reported that the closures will affect around 16 employees between locations in Trenton, Waterville and Rockland.

Wesco International, based in Pittsburgh with 7,500 employees total, purchased the Standard Electric stores in 1996 and has two other locations in Portland and Bangor, which will remain open.
