Ambulance workers threaten walkout

Employees at Tri-Town Rescue Service in South Paris yesterday threatened to leave their jobs unless the nonprofit gets a new board and makes other changes, according to the Sun Journal in Lewiston.

Tri-Town's 25 employees are upset because the board fired the organization's chief, Norman St. Pierre, yesterday, saying he didn't do adequate background checks on potential hires, the paper reported.

The employees have said they'll quit unless St. Pierre is rehired and the nonprofit's board steps down. They also want the organization to be more transparent with residents of area towns it serves, including West Paris, Greenwood and Sumner, because those towns help fund the organization, the paper said.
