The Aroma Joe’s cafe, which opened Aug. 23, is in Baggot Hall, which houses space for meetings, student recreation and social activities.

The new location will offer Aroma Joe’s food and beverage options, accept cash and credit cards, and soon include access to student meal cards. The cafe is open to students, faculty, staff and anyone visiting the campus.

Aroma Joe’s also plans to offer employment to Saint Joseph’s students.

“Aroma Joe’s is not just a coffee shop; it’s a hub for building connections and bringing people together,” said Joseph Cassidy, president of Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.

“At Saint Joseph’s, community matters," he continued. "The connections students build here help them burnish their skills, recognize where they fit in, and empower them to create a more compassionate world.

"Add to that a good cup of coffee and they will be unstoppable. We are delighted to welcome this well-respected local business onto our campus.”

The addition is a response to student feedback and is part of the college’s efforts to enrich the campus experience, the school said.

A spokesperson from Aroma Joe’s told Mainebiz this is the company's first partnership with a college or university. As it continues to grow its footprint, the company hopes to increase its presence on or near school campuses.

“Our mission has always been to serve our communities with not just great offerings but with a warm, welcoming environment,” said Kristal Duffy, a Windham-based franchise owner.

“We look forward to serving everyone on campus and becoming a part of their daily lives."

Aroma Joe’s will host a grand opening with special promotions, giveaways and events. The cafe is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Aroma Joe’s launched in 2000 in New Hampshire and then moved to Maine. The company is a franchising business that has expanded primarily in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Connecticut, but there are also franchisees in Florida.

The company now has 113 locations.
