Auburn developer buys modular-home site

Auburn Developer George Schott has purchased the former Burlington Homes manufacturing plant and property in Oxford, according to the Sun Journal in Lewiston.

Schott, who owns the Auburn Mall and Mount Auburn Plaza, bought the 77,000-square-foot plant and 13.5 acres of land at auction last week for $418,000, the paper said. He said he plans to lease the site, but that he hadn't worked out other details.

Burlington Homes, a modular-home company, shut down last February because of slow sales. The company's inventory, including forklifts and trailers, was auctioned off to multiple buyers for $340,000 total, the paper said.
