Bangor judge to hear Hannaford suits

More than a dozen lawsuits filed over a widespread data breach at Hannaford Brothers Company grocery stores will be heard by a Bangor judge.

U.S. District Court Judge D. Brock Hornby will hear the cases, which have been filed in Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Florida, according to the Portland Press Herald. A seven-judge panel in Asheville, N.C. recommended the cases be heard in Maine because it would be more convenient, as Hannaford Bros. Co. is headquartered in Scarborough.

The suits stem from a data breach at Hannaford-operated stores from December 2007 through early March that exposed four million customers' credit card numbers
