Bangor Nat'l Guard center wins $15M

The Army National Guard has granted $15.5 million to the Maine Army National Guard base to fund the construction of the Regal Training Institute in Bangor.

According to a press release from Sen. Susan Collins' office, the funding is aimed at the final building phase of the new facility and has been included in the fiscal year 2010 Consolidated Appropriations Act, which was recently passed by the Senate and signed by President Obama last month. "I am proud to have helped secure funding for both phases of construction of this updated training facility, which will support the men and women of the 240th Regiment and the Maine Army National Guard," Collins said in the release.

Construction on phase one of the training center began last year. Once built, the institute will include classrooms, a dormitory, cafeteria, and athletic and other training facilities.
