Bar Harbor hotel plans downgraded

Ocean Properties is scaling back its plans for a hotel in Bar Harbor after the town expressed concern over its size.

The Portsmouth-based hotel developer owned by Tom Walsh originally filed an application in March for a five-story, 121-room hotel, but is downsizing it to a four-story, 110-room hotel, according to the Bangor Daily News. Eben Salvatore, Ocean Properties' local operations manager, said the changes are a result of the town's worry about the building's height, which would be 45 feet. The company also increased the number of parking spaces it planned to build from 44 to 86 to address parking concerns.

The proposed changes are scheduled to go before the planning board on Nov. 4.
