Bernstein Shur, Maine's second-largest law firm, has hired four associate attorneys for its Portland office.
Grady Burns joins the firm’s municipal and governmental services practice group. His practice will provide clients various services, including land use and environmental permitting, general municipal law, zoning compliance, administrative and judicial appeals and enforcement actions. He earned his J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law. Burns received his bachelor's in history and bachelor's in secondary education from the University of Maine at Farmington. He has also served on the Auburn City Council.
Lisa Prosienski joined the firm's government, public affairs, municipal government services, and practice groups. In this role, she will support general municipal matters. Prosienski received her J.D. University of Maine School of Law. Before earning her law degree, she spent two decades as a political advisor, where she gained experience advising state and national leaders from Maine to Arizona. She holds a bachelor's degree in English and political science from the University of Maine at Farmington.
J. Hanover Shinay joins the firm’s real estate practice group, assisting clients with commercial real estate transactions, energy projects and matters that span the real estate and environmental practices. Hanover Shinay received a J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law and a bachelor's degree in history and art design from the Pratt Institute. Shinay spent nearly a decade working in art academia in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a 2023 summer associate class member at Bernstein Shur.
Dhivya Singaram joins the labor and employment practice group. In this role, she will work in several areas, including litigation, regulatory compliance and workplace disputes. Before joining Bernstein Shur, Singaram was an engagement coordinator at the ACLU of Maine and a paralegal at a Portland law firm. She also interned at Bernstein Shur as a 2023 summer associate class member. Singaram earned her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law and her bachelor's degree from Bowdoin College.
