New hires

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, hired Kaveri Subbarao as CEO and Ali Worster as chief people officer. Subbarao was previously global executive director of strategic growth and the litigation practice at Clark Hill in Pittsburgh while Worster was vice president of human resources at Northern Light Health in Bangor.

Greater Portland Landmarks hired Alison Frazee as director of advocacy and Julie Gondzar as director of development. Frazee was most recently executive director of the Boston Preservation Alliance while Gondzar was natural resource program manager for the state of Wyoming Water Development Commission.

Professional Logging Contractors of the Northeast in Augusta hired Jeff Benjamin as deputy executive director of certification. Benjamin was business analyst and human resources director and a member of the leadership team for S.J. Rollins Technologies in Brewer.

Skowhegan Savings hired Michael Pietroski as vice president and commercial lender in Augusta.

Northern Light Pediatric Cancer Care in Brewer hired Ayotola Ajayi and Eman Mosleh as pediatric oncologists.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden hired Kirsten Pomeroy as a receptionist in its Waterville office.

Vertical Raise, an online fundraising platform, hired Chris Christie as its Maine representative.

Katahdin Trust in Houlton hired Julie Winslow as credit control officer.

Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, a luxury real estate firm in Portland, hired Adrianne Zahner as a vice president in Damariscotta.

Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park in Winter Harbor hired Lisa Frazell as development director. Frazell was previously executive director of development at Husson University in Bangor.

Portland-based cPort Credit Union hired Daniel Eichorn as senior vice president, general counsel and Derek Hall as vice president of finance.

The Maine Community College System hired Doug Binsfeld as president of Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle, effective in April. Binsfeld currently serves as vice president for academic and student affairs at Upper Iowa University.

Landry/French Construction in Scarborough hired Derek Converse as director of preconstruction.

Norway Savings Bank hired Dawn Mugford as senior vice president of risk. Most recently, Mugford was executive vice president and chief risk officer at Rockland Trust Bank in Rockland, Mass.

MaineHealth hired Matthew Wolden as COO for MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland. Wolden is currently the COO at University of California, San Francisco Health System’s St. Mary’s and Saint Francis Hospitals.

Demont Associates, a philanthropic consulting firm in Portland, hired Beverly Shadley as vice president. Shadley was deputy director of Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire.

Verrill, a law firm in Portland, hired David Austin as partner. Austin has 30 years of experience acting as legal counsel to a variety of businesses, from new ventures to some of Maine’s largest and most well-known organizations, on a wide range of transactional and corporate law matters.

Murray Plumb & Murray, a law firm in Portland, hired Susan Bixby as partner. Bixby focuses her practice on divorce and parental rights cases.

Secretary of State Shenna Bellows hired Lelia De Andrade as deputy secretary of state for community relations. Previously, De Andrade was a nonprofit leader with management and outreach roles at the Maine Community Foundation and the Center for Preventing Hate.

United Insurance hired Elizabeth Blomerth and Natalie Bates as small business commercial lines account managers in Farmington and Brian Sipe as agency manager and account executive and Alanna Rideout and Stacy Robey as account managers in Caribou.

The Maine State Chamber of Commerce in Augusta hired Katie Clark as director of communications. Clark was previously COO at HistoryIT.

The Department of Secretary of State hired Christian Cotz as acting state archivist for Maine. Cotz was most recently executive director of the First Amendment Museum in Augusta.

The University of Southern Maine Foundation hired Corey Hascall as president and CEO.

Revidia Therapeutics Inc., a cardiac regenerative medicine company developing first-in-class small molecule drug therapies for heart injury, hired Michael Christensen as executive vice president for business development and Michael Stein as vice president for clinical development.

Promotions

Portland-based cPort Credit Union promoted Aissa Edora to assistant branch manager. Edora was branch supervisor.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust promoted Jacklyn Sinclair to assistant vice president, branch relationship manager in Ellsworth. Sinclair was previously assistant branch manager in Ellsworth.

The Department of Secretary of State promoted Katherine McBrien to chief deputy and chief of staff. McBrien was previously Maine state archivist.

Western Foothills Land Trust in Norway promoted Kelli Shedd to interim director. Shedd previously served the organization in development and community outreach.

Knickerbocker Group, a designer and builder of high-end homes and commercial spaces based in Portland, promoted Marta Peters to CFO.

Morgan Stanley promoted Sam Becker to first vice president and Jeffrey O’Sullivan to senior vice president in the firm’s wealth management office in Bangor. In the firm’s wealth management office in Portland, Gary Bergeron was promoted to managing director, Catherine Cleale to associate vice president, Gail Frongillo to vice president, Deanna Harnett to vice president and Cameron Shorey to vice president.

Appointments

Jeff Harris was elected president of the Maine Association of Realtors for 2025. Harris is a realtor at Harris Real Estate in Farmington.

Achievements

Lighthouses of Maine, collectively nominated by Maine Preservation in Yarmouth, were named to the “2025 World Monuments Watch” by the World Monuments Fund.

The Maine Justice Foundation announced that New York University School of Law Juris Doctor Candidate, Georgia Whitaker, was selected as the 2025 Coffin Family Law Fellow. The fellowship provides legal representation in family law matters to clients who have qualified for pro bono assistance through the Volunteer Lawyers Project.

Greg Shute, a long-time Chewonki staff member and former director of Northern and Coastal Properties, was selected for the “2025 Special Recognition Award” from the American Camping Association.

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins was awarded the “Army Distinguished Public Service Medal,” the highest public service recognition awarded by the U.S. Army.

Make-A-Wish Maine named Central Maine Power as the recipient of its “2025 WishMaker Award.” The award honors the company for its 20-year commitment to supporting Make-A-Wish Maine through assisting with wishes, providing employee volunteers and helping to support wish-granting for families in Maine.

Golden Pond Wealth Management in Waterville said it was named to Forbes’ “Best-In-State Wealth Management Teams” list for Maine.

LifeFlight of Maine in Bangor was the recipient of Vertical Aviation International’s “Salute to Excellence Safety Award.”

Northern Light Health in Bangor announced that the late John Marshall Webber and the Webber Family as recipients of its “2024 True North Philanthropy Award.” Upon his passing, Webber made the largest philanthropic gift in Northern Light Health’s history, a bequest exceeding $12 million.
