The Brunswick Downtown Association, a non-profit organization, has hired Reilly Kons as its new executive director.
As executive director, Kons will focus on advancing the mission to promote downtown Brunswick and its community as a vibrant and attractive place to live, work, play, and do business. Other priorities include enhancing community events, expanding partnerships and advocating for the needs of the downtown area.
“Reilly’s wealth of experience in entrepreneurship, event management, and community engagement, combined with his passion for fostering inclusive and thriving communities, makes him the ideal leader for the BDA,” said Annemarie Albiston, a member of the downtown association's board of directors.
Kons brings an extensive background to the role. He most recently served as director of Venture Café Providence, a central hub for entrepreneurs and innovators in Rhode Island.
Kons also spearheaded fundraising efforts during his tenure, acquiring over $125,000 in grant funding in 2023. The funding supported historically underserved entrepreneurs through an event series that offered networking opportunities and business-building workshops. It also assisted qualified entrepreneurs in becoming minority business enterprise-certified in Rhode Island.
Prior to joining Venture Café, Kons was a member of the entrepreneurship team at the Roux Institute at Northeastern University. In this role, he supported initiatives to foster startup growth and innovation across Maine, building connections between emerging businesses, industry leaders and academic institutions.
The Topsham native received his bachelor’s degree in marketing management and finance from Thomas College in Waterville.
“Having grown up across the bridge in Topsham, Brunswick has always held a special place in my heart," said Kons. "Brunswick has incredible energy, and I look forward to building on the BDA’s accomplishments to further support local businesses, foster connections and enhance the downtown experience for residents and visitors alike.”
