Lawyers on both sides of a trademark battle between The Brunswick Inn and the Inn at Brunswick Station are continuing to fight after a jury ruled in favor of the older The Brunswick Inn.
The Times Record reported attorneys on both sides have filed new motions after a jury awarded $10,000 to The Brunswick Inn and called for the other inn to change its name. JHR Development, which opened the Inn at Brunswick Station in 2011, has asked U.S. District Court Judge Nancy Torresen to overturn a Dec. 20 verdict and issue a decision herself. Jim Goggin, the attorney for The Brunswick Inn, has asked Torresen to grant his client exclusive use of the name and to prohibit the Inn at Brunswick Station from using any combination of the words “Brunswick” and “inn” in a new name.
The Brunswick Inn said that the similar names caused confusion and led to visitors and emergency responders going to the wrong location.
The paper reported both sides have until the end of January to reply to the opposing motions.
