Call center planned for Calais

A Canadian global market research firm is looking to open a call center in Calais and create 210 jobs.

Acrobat Research, headquartered in Toronto, plans to begin operations at its first U.S.-based call center in January if it can hire 80 full-time and 130 part-time employees, according to a press release. John Holden, director of business development at the Eastern Maine Development Corp., told Mainebiz this morning that the firm currently is accepting applications through Nov. 28.

The company will likely occupy the former ICT Group telemarketing call center, which closed four years ago, Holden said.

Acrobat currently operates call centers in Ontario and Nova Scotia, and considered a handful of rural communities in eastern Maine before deciding on Calais, the press release reported.
