Cross Insurance buys second Mass. firm

Bangor-based Cross Insurance has acquired a second agency in Massachusetts.

Cross, a subsidiary of Cross Financial Corp., recently bought Thomas Gregory Associates Insurance Agency in Wakefield, Mass., according to a press release. The acquisition expands Cross Insurance Wakefield, a division formed in March when Cross bought and renamed brokerage firm Mazonson LLC of Wakefield. Thomas Gregory Associates provides insurance and risk management services for commercial property, casualty insurance, personal insurance and employee benefits. The firm's president, Tom Gregory, will serve as president of Cross Insurance Wakefield.

This summer, Cross will merge its Wakefield locations into one office. With this second acquisition, Cross now has more than 50 employees in Wakefield. Cross Insurance is one of the largest insurance firms in New England with more than 30 offices, 14 of which are in Maine, and more than 400 employees.
