Free PPE available to Portland small businesses

Small businesses in Portland can now receive free personal protective equipment to keep employees safe as they interact with the public.

The city of Portland is giving away the PPE for the second time during the pandemic, supported by state COVID-19 relief funds. While supplies last, any public-facing Portland business with 30 or fewer employees can receive:

  • 200 disposable face masks
  • A touch-free, battery-powered dispenser for hand sanitizer
  • 1 gallon of hand sanitizer gel or four individual bottles of hand sanitizer, and
  • 3 quarts of high-quality surface disinfectant.

“As we continue to live within a pandemic, PPE … is crucial for maintaining safe business operations,” city spokeswoman Jessica Grondin said in a news release. “It is, however, impacting the budgets of small businesses when many are facing financial challenges.”

To get the PPE, businesses should complete a form and indicate the best date to pick up their materials at the Ocean Gateway terminal in Portland: Wednesday, Jan. 13, 9-11 a.m., or Thursday, Jan. 14, 1-3 p.m.
