Guv quiet on Domtar talks

It remains unclear whether the Domtar pulp mill is up for sale, after Gov. John Baldacci earlier this week told a local newspaper that said he planned to meet today with potential investors in the Baileyville mill.

Baldacci earlier this week told the Calais Advertiser that he had met with people interested in investing in the mill, but a spokesman said the governor's office currently has no announcement about the mill, the Bangor Daily News reported. Domtar offered no comment.

In March, the Montreal-based company announced it would shut down the pulp mill indefinitely. On Tuesday, more than 300 workers left their jobs for the last time, the paper reported.
