Husson reaccredited, adds communications school

The New England School of Communications will become a school within Husson University, following approval of the merger by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.

The university said in a press release that the communications school, which shares a campus with Husson, will retain its name as it becomes a part of the larger university.

The communications school offers four-year degrees in fields like audio engineering, journalism, radio broadcasting, Web media and entertainment production. Thomas Johnston, NESCom’s president, said joining with Husson will allow the school to develop graduate degree programs, start offering online and night courses, and expand its programs in digital filmmaking and video and audio production.

In approving the merger, regional accreditors also gave Husson another 10-year accreditation.
