Husson University and Southern Maine Community College, the largest community college in Maine, have entered into a series of agreements designed to help students meet their educational and professional goals, according to a Feb. 1 Husson University news release.
The 18 new transfer agreements create a smooth process for the transfer of credits from SMCC to Husson. The two institutions held a signing ceremony, representing the culmination of the agreement process, that took place Jan. 31, 2019 on Husson University’s Bangor campus.
The agreements cover the transfer of credits from SMCC associate degree programs into corresponding Husson University bachelor’s degree programs. The agreements cover SMCC’s programs in communications and new media, education, early childhood education, biotechnology, human services, health sciences, criminal justice, hospitality management, information technology, business administration, business administration with a sport management option, and computer science.
“Our university is dedicated to offering students a high-quality, affordable college education,” John Champoli, vice president for enrollment management at Husson, said in the release. “That’s why Husson University is the least expensive private four-year college in New England, according to a recent analysis by U.S. News & World Report.”
"These agreements allow students who are interested in continuing their education after earning a degree at SMCC to enjoy a seamless transfer and save time and money," SMCC President Joe Cassidy said in the release. "We are putting students first to assure they have all the opportunities and support they need to succeed.”
SMCC students who want to take their education to the next level are welcome to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Husson University after they complete their associate’s degree studies.
