A barbecue restaurant in Portland's Riverton neighborhood, Noble Barbecue, plans to move to the former Deering Center home of Elsmere BBQ this summer and rebrand as Noble Pizzeria & Barbecue.
Elsmere BBQ closed its location at 476 Stevens Ave. in Portland in 2022, but continues to operate in South Portland.
Ryan Carey, founder of Noble Barbecue, said on Friday that his reinvented restaurant is scheduled to open in July. The original Noble Barbecue, at 1706 Forest Ave., will remain open until then.
“After seven years of operating at our initial location, Noble Barbecue is moving to Deering Center,” Carey said in a social media post. “We’ll be adding NY-style pizza to our existing menu and will rebrand as Noble Pizzeria & Barbecue.”
Noble’s fare of meat platters and sandwiches will remain on the menu alongside a new selection of wood-fired pizzas. The restaurant will also debut an array of milkshakes.
“Noble Pizzeria & Barbecue is the culmination of my team’s culinary passions,” said Carey. “We’re thrilled to bring our craft barbecue and wood-fired pizzas together under one roof in this incredible new space.”
The 4,091-square-foot site will feature a full dining room, an 18-seat bar and a patio with seating for up to 50 guests.
Sale of the building was brokered by Mike Anderson of Malone Commercial Brokers and Justin Lamontagne and Bryan Plourde of the Dunham Group. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
