The buyer of a 1,690-square-foot retail condominium in the Hobson’s Landing development, at 383 Commercial St. in Portland, plans to open a fitness studio that specializes in low-impact, high-intensity workouts.
The buyer, 383 Commercial Street LLC, bought the condo from DPD Lot 3 LLC for $597,000.
Btone Fitness, a chain headquartered in Boston, is slated to move into the space. Btone Fitness has roughly two dozen branches, according to its website.
Joe Malone and Jennifer Small of Malone Commercial Brokers represented the seller and Brice O’Connor of the Boulos Co. represented the buyer.
Hobson’s Landing has residential and retail condos, a parking garage and a rooftop deck. It was developed by Portland-based Reger Dasco Properties on the former Rufus Deering Lumber Co. site on Commercial Street.
“This transaction reflects the continued demand for retail space in in Portland’s downtown,” said Small.
The location is ideal for the studio, she said, because it offers visibility, accessibility and proximity to an “active community.”
The sale illustrates continued growth in Portland’s fitness and wellness sectors.
Over the past year, that included the expansion of Salud Studios at 265 Marginal Way, the relocation and expansion of EA Fitness & Performance from Falmouth to 56 Northport Drive in Portland.
