A woman with extensive experience in public- and private-sector communications has filled the newly created post of director of marketing and communications for the city of Lewiston.
Angelynne S. Amores, who started her new role on Sept. 22, is the first person to serve in that role for the Androscoggin County city with a population of 36,225, and where Mainebiz held an "On the Road" event last month.
Amores' lengthy background in marketing and communications includes local, state and federal governments, along with work in the private sector and nonprofit sectors.
“Whether you live, work or visit, Lewiston has an abundance of opportunities, and Angelynne has vast experience that will help to showcase all that Lewiston has to offer,” said Mayor Carl Sheline. "I look forward to Angelynne working with city staff to further place Lewiston at the forefront of opportunities and innovation.”
Amores will manage marketing initiatives and strategic branding and oversee website and social media for the city. She will also serve as the primary resource for internal and external city communications, working with Dot Perham-Whittier, the city's community relations coordinator.
Her experience includes work in the communications offices for the mayor of Chicago; the offices of the Illinois and Indiana attorneys general; and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the city of Lewiston noted in Thursday's announcement.
Amores's private-sector work includes positions at Comcast and Consolidated Communications, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Amorer received her Master of Science in Communication from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from St. Mary-of-the-Woods in Terre Haute, Ind.
