MaineHealth, the state’s largest health care system, has named presidents at two of its subsidiary care providers to succeed Timothy A. Churchill, who is retiring at the end of the year.
Churchill currently is president of both Franklin Community Health Network, which includes Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, and Western Maine Health Corp., the parent organization of Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
Trampas D. Hutches will serve as president of Franklin Community Health beginning Jan. 1, according to a news release Friday.
Hutches is currently president and chief executive officer of Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke, Colo., a position he has held since 2016. He began his career in Colorado 20 years ago as a cardiac catheterization technologist, later becoming the supervisor of the radiology department at a hospital in Nebraska and then returning to Colorado. He holds a master’s degree in health administration.
At Western Maine Health, Andrea (Andy) Dodge Patstone, now the chief operating officer, will be promoted to president, according to a separate news release.
Prior to becoming COO in April 2018, Patstone worked for MaineHealth for seven years, first as vice president of strategic initiatives and later as senior vice president, system development. Previously, she held leadership positions with the Massachusetts Office of Health and Human Services and worked with Accenture as a health care consultant. Patstone holds a master’s degree in public policy.
Churchill announced his intention to retire earlier this year after 23 years as leader of Western Maine Health and serving as president of Franklin Community Health since 2017. His decision prompted national searches for both positions.
Last month, MaineHealth announced that its top two executives, CEO Bill Caron and President Richard Petersen, will retire at the end of 2020 and in June 2021, respectively. A search committee has been formed to identify potential successors.
MaineHealth has a service area with 1.1 million people in Maine and Carroll County, N.H., and employs more than 19,000.
