Maine's military infrastructure receives $25M in fed funds

Sen. Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Services and Appropriations Committees, today said that $25.6 million in federal stimulus funds have been earmarked for construction and repair projects at Maine's military facilities.

The following facilities will receive funds from the Department of Defense:

• Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery will receive $24,480,000
• Camp Keyes Training Site will receive $555,000
• Portland Armory will receive $304,000
• Bangor Training Site will receive $205,000
• Houlton Armory will receive $42,000

Collins said in a statement that the funding, which comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, will "help boost the economy by putting people to work improving our defense infrastructure."
