Mascoma Bank's new senior vice president and Maine market leader sees a positive forecast for Maine's economy, with continued growth and development.
“People have really taken notice of the great quality of life in the state and technology has allowed many to relocate here or return and call Maine home,” said Andrew Cook, who will succeed Todd Bachelder.
Cook brings 14 years of experience to the position and leads several charitable endeavors. He joined Mascoma Bank in March 2022 as senior vice president and commercial loan officer. Cook has been working for over a year to expand the bank's commercial lending relationships in Maine.
“I believe the biggest threat to the growth and development we have seen in the economy is the need for more housing of all types," Cook said. "We are fortunate to have some great developers in Maine that are working to address this issue and help keep our economy thriving for years to come.”
Cook is chair of the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce, chair of the Maine Chapter of the American Heart Association, and board secretary for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine. He serves on the credit committee for Granite State Development Corp., the commercial loan and legislative committees for Maine Banker’s Association and the golf committee for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital Open.
“With Andrew’s banking background, leadership skills, and passion for the community, I have no doubt that he will be a strong leader for our Maine market,” said Clay Adams, Mascoma Bank president and CEO.
He graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, before returning to his home state to work in banking at various institutions.
Bachelder will continue to help expand Mascoma Bank’s commercial presence in Maine as he moves into the role of senior vice president of commercial lending.
"It is with great confidence and enthusiasm that I pass Maine Market Leader responsibilities over to Andrew,” said Bachelder
Bachelder joined Mascoma in 2018, bringing decades of both banking and business experience. During his time with the company, Bachelder opened the commercial loan office in Portland in 2018. He is one of the founding organizers of Maine B Corps.
Mascoma Bank is a $2.7 billion mutual community bank and Certified B corporation with 28 branches and two loan offices throughout Northern New England. The company’s headquarters are in Vermont.
