Westbrook-based Mast Landing Brewing Co. plans to open a third tasting room, this time in South Portland.

Plans announced Thursday call for moving into 185 Cottage Road, which was most recently occupied by Rwanda Bean Coffee Roasters.

Rwanda Bean Coffee Roasters announced in April it would close the location and has moved its operations to Thompson's Landing.

The other tenant in the building is Cape Whoopies Maine Gourmet Whoopie Pies.

Cape Whoopies is a tenant at 185 Cottage Road in Cape Elizabeth, soon to be joined by Mast Landing Brewing Co.

Mast Landing Brewing leased 2,647 square feet of retail space from landlord Berkeley Properties LLC. Kirk Butterfield of KW Commercial/Magnusson Balfour and John Finegan of the Boulos Co. brokered the deal.

Mast Landing has other locations in Westbrook and Freeport.

“The SoPo tasting room will follow through on that vision by giving us a chance to get closer to folks who have long supported us,” said President and CEO Ian Dorsey. “The space is great, and is well suited for us to jump in and make it our own. The vibrant neighborhood will allow us to connect with the community, and hopefully grow with it. This tasting room will be a hub of Mast Landing activity that helps expand the brewery’s reach while representing everything we’ve worked hard to create in Westbrook and Freeport.”

The South Portland space won't allow for beer production, so beer served there will be brought in from the brewery’s main production facility in Westbrook.

“Above all, visitors to the South Portland tasting room can expect the familiar level of care & service that our staff in Westbrook and Freeport provide,” said Kevin McGlynn, the company’s VP of sales. “Our vision of accessibility can only come to life with good advocates, and our tasting room teams are the experts on sharing our beers & story with folks who come see us.”

Pending approval from the town, Mast Landing plans to open the location by the end of the year.
