MBAs offered by Husson at JAX

Employees of The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor will have a new way to earn an MBA beginning Jan. 17. That's when Husson University will be offering Masters of Business Administration classes onsite to employees, as well as to Bar Harbor-area residents.

Students will get their MBA degree in two to three years through a combination of online classes and classes taught at Jackson Lab, without having to drive to Husson's Bangor campus, according to a press release. The arrangement reflects the organization's commitment to employee development, Mae Landesman, senior director of human resources, said. Jackson Lab has offered a tuition reimbursement program to employees since 1998, with 68 employees currently benefiting from that program. "We see working with Husson University as a wonderful opportunity to further support our commitment to providing more accessible educational opportunities for employees," she said.

In addition to offering the MBA classes to Jackson employees in Bar Harbor, the institution plans to use distance education technologies so that employees at its Sacramento, Calif., location can also participate. Residents of the Bar Harbor area can enroll as space permits.

Jackson Lab and Bar Harbor residents will add to Husson's approximately 3,600 students. Husson's College of Business offers programs throughout the state, including locations in Presque Isle, Portland, York and online to students in New Brunswick. The College of Business is accredited by The International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
