Navy to create 90 jobs in Maine

Sen. Olympia J. Snowe this morning said the U.S. Navy will add as many as 90 civilian jobs at four military installations in Maine.

The new jobs will support Navy operations at its facilities in Cutler and Prospect Harbor, and at the Brunswick Naval Air Station and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, according to a press release from Snowe's office. Snowe said the new jobs were being created because the Navy's Maine facilities have received its Most Efficient Organization designation. "Clearly, the Navy recognized that when they need to get the job done efficiently, they have to look no further then the outstanding abilities of Mainers," Snowe said in a statement.

Specific positions at each location are in final stages of planning and will be announced in January.
