New hires

Varney Agency, an insurance firm in Bangor, hired Vuthi Roeun as division leader for its New Jersey and New York City team.

The city of Bangor hired Jennifer Gunderman as director of Bangor Public Health & Community Services. Gunderman was previously director of the Maine Area Health Education Center.

OceanView at Falmouth, a retirement community, hired Aleks Kazimierczak as director of assisted living for Falmouth House and Legacy Memory Care. Kazimierczak was nurse manager at Falmouth House Assisted Living.

Defend Our Health, a nonprofit public health and social justice organization in Portland, hired Emily Carey Perez de Alejo as president and CEO. Carey Perez de Alejo has 15 years of experience in environmental public health.

Penobscot General Contractors in Falmouth hired Lawton Powell as senior project manager. Powell has 10 years of industry experience.

Northern Light Primary Care, Hampden hired Lara Kirkpatrick as a certified menopause society clinical practitioner.
