New hires

Albin, Randall & Bennett, a certified public accounting and business advisory firm in Portland, hired Logan Donahue as audit senior manager.

Kennebunk Savings hired William Saufley as executive vice president and chief risk officer. Previously, Saufley was general counsel at Residential Mortgage Services.

Christopher Rugullies

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust hired Christopher Rugullies as senior vice president, regional relationship manager in Portland and David O’Connell as a senior vice president, director of operations in Rockland. Rugullies was previously senior vice president and commercial market manager at Camden National Bank while O’Connell was head of product development and strategic partnerships at Concerto Card Co.

Uprise Partners, a Portland-based information technology and cybersecurity solutions provider, hired Jason Romer as chief experience officer.

Franklin Health Primary Care in Farmington hired Amanda Berube as a nurse practitioner. Most recently Berube was a float pool nurse at the Veterans Administration at Togus caring for acute and critical care patients.

United Insurance announced several new hires. In Portland, the firm hired Katie Piantoni as marketing and community engagement manager; Joshua Reali and Viviana Mendoza as commercial lines account managers; and Carly Freeman Thompson as employee benefits account manager. In Bangor, Holly Berry Carter was hired as commercial lines account manager and in Farmington Kerry-Rose McGlaughlin was hired as commercial lines account manager small business.

Spinnaker Trust, a wealth management firm in Portland, hired Scott Stefanowicz as director of portfolio management and trading.

The Alliance for Addiction and Mental Health Services, Maine, a statewide association based in Augusta dedicated to advancing quality mental health and substance use treatment, promoted Jennifer Christian to associate director.

Hancock Lumber in Casco hired Mark Smith as general manager in Damariscotta, Paul Hamann as sawmill manager and Chris Baumgarten as Midwest sales manager.

Keller Williams Realty in Maine hired several agents, including Joe Hausler and Erica Paulette of the Legacy Group, Kristen Bruni, Vanessa Segien, Ligaya Alkulana Atwood, Jesse Brooks, Sarah Oliveira, Emily Colson, Aleyah Mahoney and Miles Mixer.

Promotions

Chewonki Foundation, a nonprofit in Wiscasset dedicated to nature-based education, promoted Nancy Kennedy to president. Kennedy, who has been with the organization for 10 years, served as acting president for the past two years.

WEX Inc., a financial technology provider in Portland, promoted Sara Trickett to chief legal officer and corporate secretary. Trickett was previously acting general counsel and assistant corporate secretary.

Bangor Savings Bank promoted Ryan Dumond to senior vice president and director of bank fintech partnerships.

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services promoted Sara Gagné-Holmes to acting commissioner of the department. Gagné-Holmes previously served as a deputy commissioner.

Health Affiliates Maine in Auburn promoted Roxanne Chabot to billing and support supervisor.

Brann & Isaacson, a law firm in Lewiston, promoted Stacy Stitham to managing partner. Stitham is a business litigator.

Appointments

The Executive Committee of the American Council on Education elected Jenifer Cushman to serve on its Council of Fellows Board. Cushman is president of University of Maine at Augusta.

Robert Clark, executive director of Northern Maine Development Commission in Caribou, was elected to the National Association of Development Organizations board of directors for the 2024-26 term. Clark represents the eastern region on the 66-member board.

Brian Bryant, a Bath Iron Works shipbuilder by trade, was nominated by President Biden to serve on the President’s Export Council, a U.S. governmental organization that serves as the principal national advisory committee on international trade. Bryant is international president of the 600,000-member International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Achievements

MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence’s Breathe Easy Initiative recognized Jennifer Bartlett, a registered nurse at Northern Light AR Gould Hospital, as an “Individual Gold Star Champion.” In addition, Northern Light AR Gould Hospital, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, Northern Light Mercy Hospital and Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital were named “Platinum Level Awardees” while Northern Light Inland Hospitals was a “Gold Level Awardee.”

Piper Shores, a nonprofit retirement community in Scarborough, said that Fitch Ratings affirmed the organization’s rating of ‘A-’ with a Positive Outlook.

Kristina Campbell, a commercial lines producer at Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden, completed the Workers Compensation Professional certification through the American Society of Workers’ Compensation Professionals.

New Dimensions Federal Credit Union in Waterville named Jeannine DeRosby its “2024 Alexander Ferguson Award for Outstanding Volunteer” award winner. DeRosby is a board director at the credit union.

Malone Commercial Brokers in Portland announced that Cheri Bonawitz was named “2024 Realtor of the Year” by the Maine Commercial Association of Realtors.

Saddleback Mountain in Rangeley said it was the recipient of an inaugural “BirdSafe Maine” award for environmentally conscious design at its new mid-mountain restaurant, the Nest.

The University of Maine at Farmington Sweatt-Winter Child Care and Early Education Center, designed by CHA Architecture PC in Portland, won a Maine American Institute of Architects design award.

Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, said that the Chambers USA Guide, a legal ranking and resource guide, awarded nine of the firm’s practice areas top rankings. In addition, 30 of the firm’s attorneys received top rankings.
